IDIG - The user group for KBM
|
|
|
IDIG, the
International Data3 Information Group, is not formally constituted in
the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, although there are active IDIG
Chapters in France and the USA, where users are more numerous. Dick
Doran of Cemoc is Acting Chair of IDIG North Europe and the group has
revitalised its activities over the past two years, culminating in the
submission in 2004 of the first set of prioritised KBM enhancement
requests from the region for a decade.
The
principal activities of IDIG are to promote the interests of users of
Data3, SIM/400 and KBM, and to facilitate information exchange between
users of the software, as well as between users and the software vendor,
SSA Global. Affiliation is open to all companies using the product -
not just those on current maintenance contracts with the software
vendor, and there is currently no charge, although enthusiastic
participation is welcomed.
The group
has taken part in two annual conferences in 2003 and 2004 with an
increasingly full programme of user experience case studies, training
sessions, and product direction briefings. This has taken place under
the umbrella of the Combined User Groups Conference in order to spread
costs, attract vendor sponsorship and to secure the active participation
of SSA Global top management and product strategists. Moving forward,
the group plans to hold occasional KBM special interest events -
possibly also involving members of IDIG France, and a KBM Newsletter is
published quarterly.
